We thought you would all like a chance to hear the interns’ take on some of what we encounter daily here at NewsON. Lauren brought you the first “Lauren’s Lessons” yesterday, and now I’m here with “Ask Alison,” a feature that will hopefully answer any questions you’ve been dying to ask.
Something we feel has often been asked is “Why NewsON?” or more specifically, “Why NewsON over another local station app?”
Well that’s easy. First off, we’re not telling you not to download your favorite local station app. Station apps offer lots of super hyper-local information that NewsON just doesn’t have time or room for. But what NewsON DOES have is a way for you to watch local news outside of your hometown. Instead of downloading separate apps for local stations all across the country, you have a one-stop-shop for local news all in one easy location.
Secondly, we do this really cool thing called alerting. When there is breaking news happening in one of our market areas, we can send you a direct alert to your phone and you can watch local coverage of that event broadcast by the local station in that city. Who else knows Phoenix, AZ or Atlanta, GA or even Fargo, ND better than the local news stations that cover news in that city every single day? This is local news you wouldn’t have access to unless you just happened to have a Baltimore news app downloaded even though you live in Seattle.
Lastly, we make it possible for you to go back and watch this news on a bigger screen than just your phone. With our Roku channel you can watch any of our 142 stations on your home TV. You can even go back and watch past broadcasts for up to 48 hours previously if you missed it.
So don’t un-install your local station app; keep it. Then go download NewsON. You won’t regret it.
